Seven Questions to Ask a Plant Medicine Facilitator…Before You Work With Them

Transformational healing work through indigenous plant medicines like mushrooms and Ayahuasca is expanding out of the jungles of South America and into our mainstream culture. This work has the power to transform lives, lineages and collective consciousness. Yet when good things begin to grow, weeds often come.

Be sure to ask the questions outlined in this post to help ensure you don’t end up being served plant medicine by someone like this guy…

The lack of refinement, integrity and connection to lineage of many who deem themselves worthy to serve plant medicine creates danger for individuals and threatens the erosion of the power of these sacred plant teachers.

When considering whether a facilitator, practitioner or “shaman” is worthy, I recommend asking these seven questions, answers to which should tell you everything you need to know:

  1. Can you please me about your lineage?

  2. How did you feel called to serve this medicine and Who authorized you to do so?

  3. What does this work mean to you?

  4. What do you see as your role as the facilitator?

  5. Is there anyone that your container may not be best for?

  6. How long have you been serving this medicine?

  7. Who do you check in with as a supervisor?

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you could use any help analyzing the answers you receive!
