fear of death can be conquered through awareness, preparation and loving support

Clark Nesselrodt of Ascending Souls Ministry
National End-of-Life Doula Alliance Proficiency Badge

My name is Clark Nesselrodt, and my lifelong calling to ministry has lead me to develop services to care for the dying and provide pastoral counseling. I am a member of the National End of Life Doula Alliance, and have earned its proficiency badge alongside ongoing seminary and end-of-life care study.

I have witnessed passage out of this life be radically transformed for the better, both for the dying and their loved ones, through active support leading up to, during and following the often misunderstood process of death. Hospice work allows me to develop this practice continually through the deaths I am called to support. I also maintain counseling dialogs with individuals of all ages, from many walks of life—people from diverse spiritual paths and religions, or none.

As a father and executive consultant, this ministry and ongoing study weave into my life as I am called to serve. I look forward to hearing from you if you believe I may be able to support you or someone you know.

“I saw what you did for him, and I want you to take care of me when I am dying.”

— Carmen, Certified nursing assistant

“You brought so much beauty into the entire process. This would have been a much more difficult experience without you.”

— Mary, patient’s spouse

“I especially love your relentless outward focus, the way you think only in terms of the other's experience, to the extent that it is the only meaningful element.”

— Steve, classmate

the doula approach to dying

Reflecting on life. Planning for passage. Resolving unfinished business. Sitting vigil. Reprocessing the experience. These facets and more make up the growing End-of-Life Doula practice—a gift for everyone involved.

About Clark

I have followed my lifelong yearning for the Divine to the Episcopal Church, toward metaphysics, through Judaism and into a life grounded deeply in devotion, meditation, spiritual study and the pursuit of self-realization.

“Though the ordinary man looks upon death with dread and sadness, those who have gone before know it as a wondrous experience of peace and freedom.”

— Paramahansa Yogananda
